State College Elks Lodge 1600 received a $2,000 Elks National Promise grant, which the group used to assist with a summer backpack and food program in the Penns Valley area. The program provided backpacks to 56 students, who were selected by the YMCA. Each backpack contained nutritious food items for the children to eat in the summer, when school lunches are not available, as well as essential school supplies.
