Canyon Pizza in downtown State College reopened its doors on Wednesday after a temporary closure due health code violations, according to an employee.

The pizza shop, located at 219 E. Beaver Ave., was cited for 13 violations and ordered to close by the State College Borough Health Department after an inspection on Nov. 15, according to an inspection report on the Pennsylvania Bureau of Food Safety’s website.

Violations included soiled bathrooms, sink build-up, and floors, walls, and ceilings that were “extremely dirty, dusty, and in need of cleaning.” See the complete list of violations here. Reopening required the violations to be remedied and a follow-up inspection by the borough.

Canyon had four violations in 2021 and two in 2020 during two prior inspections, though none of those required the restaurant to close.
