Downtown State College Improvement District is offering community members a chance to show their “Love for Local,” and earn gift cards to downtown businesses in the process.
The “Love for Local” campaign was launched on Valentine’s Day to encourage people to shop locally in Downtown State College and in return receive a Downtown Gift Card valid at more than 100 locations. When customers spend $100 or more downtown at one or more merchants, they can receive a Downtown Gift Card of $25. When customers spend $250 or more downtown at one or more merchants, they will receive a Downtown Gift Card of $60.
To receive the gift card, customers must bring receipts (dated no earlier than Feb. 14, 2023) from businesses in the district to the DSCID office, 127 S. Fraser St. between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Participants may also donate their gift cards to Centre Safe.
Customer may only redeem receipts for gift cards once per person per day. Qualifying purchases include individual business gift cards, but not Downtown Gift Cards.
The “Love for Local” campaign returns this year after a successful inaugural run in 2020.
“We look at this initiative as a win-win for our downtown business community and our residents while keeping our dollars in our local economy,” DSCID Executive Director Lee Anne Jeffries said in a statement.
