In need of some new gameday outfits before heading back to Beaver Stadium on Saturday? Gameday Gear on Calder Way has you covered.

Lisa Farren, an employee at Centre Hills Country Club, recently opened a Penn State merchandise shop at the corner of Calder Way and McAllister Alley in downtown State College, and the temporary store will remain open until Sept. 30.

The shop includes elevated gameday apparel and pieces for everyone from polo shirts to sweaters, hats and even locally-made art and jewelry.

“It was truly on a whim,” Farren said. “The space became available and I knew I had the relationships, so we just put the two together.”

Farren wasn’t a Penn State student but hails from the South and is a 1991 alumna of Mississippi State. She and her husband moved to State College a little over three years ago.

“There is no real crossover between Big Ten Penn State and SEC Mississippi, so I am able to be a fan of both without hurting either side,” Farren said.

Through her relationships and connections at the country club, Farren knew the best brands and compiled her favorite pieces to add to the shop. Some of her favorite options include a crewneck sweater with the word “GAMEDAY” embroidered across the chest.

“You don’t have to be in State College very long to realize you need layers,” Farren said.

While shopping always presents a good time, Farren has been most thrilled by the people visiting her location and the ability to spend time downtown.

“I have had so much fun with the students coming in and chit-chatting with everyone. It has been amazing,” Farren said.

The shop is only open for a limited time, so head down to Calder Way before the doors close on Sept. 30. Farren has plenty of southern hospitality to spread with everyone, especially on gamedays.

“It really has not only been successful, but really fun. So who knows?” Farren said.
