Nearly a year after one coffee shop closed, another has opened at 141 S. Garner St. in State College.
Dunkin’ opened its doors on Tuesday at the former location of Starbucks in Centre Court. Starbucks vacated the Garner Street storefront in January to move to Pugh Centre, 150 E. Beaver Ave., where it opened in May.
The new Dunkin’ location originally anticipated a fall opening, a spokesperson told Onward State in June when plans for the new store surfaced.
The store is currently operating from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., but plans to extend hours to 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. once Penn State students return from winter break, according to an employee.
All other local Dunkin’ operations will remain business as usual along with the opening of the South Garner Street location, which is the Massachusetts-based chain’s ninth in Centre County and sixth in the State College area. It’s the third new Dunkin’ to open in Centre County in 2023, joining the Centre Hall and Philipsburgh locations.
Franchisee Nash Patel owns State College’s newest Dunkin’ location, along with those at 1381 E. College Ave., 200 W. College Ave. and 3180 W. College Ave.. The other Dunkin’ shops in Centre County are owned by May Brands.
