Most small businesses have a lifespan of about nine years, but this May will mark 35 years since Pam Bair opened A Basket Full in her hometown of Boalsburg.

It hasn’t always been easy for the shop selling clothing, accessories, kitchen items, spa essentials and more at 121 E. Main St. Bair survived breast cancer and other health scares and the business has faced challenges, particularly COVID-19.

But alongside her “family” of employees, including her longtime right-hand women Maggie Markle and Robin Brouse, Bair and her women-run business are still going strong, adapting to the challenges while becoming a local landmark.
