A popular Centre County United Way fundraising event will return this year after being canceled in 2022 because of snow.

Taste of the Town will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19, at The Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center. Tickets for the event are $100 per person or $850 for a table of 10. The suggested dress code for the event is business casual to formal.

Tickets are available at ccunitedway.org/taste-town.

The event will feature more than 30 local restaurants, including breweries, distilleries and wineries, who will be offering samples of their fare. There will also be silent and live auctions.

CCUW Executive Director Paula Williams is looking forward to the annual event as it will be her first experience since taking over her position in February.

“Taste of the Town is our signature fundraising event, and I am excited we can offer it again this year after having a weather-related cancellation last year,” Williams said. “So many people I talk to ask if it is on for this year, and I am pleased to report it is.”

Stuckey Mitsubishi Super Centre is Taste of the Town’s signature sponsor for the third consecutive year. Matt Stuckey, president of Stuckey Automotive, said he is honored to be associated with the event.

“We love Taste of the Town,” Stuckey said. “We love that it’s an all-inclusive community event supported by the community. In one night, a few hundred folks will impact the lives of thousands. That’s the kind of event we’ll stand by for years to come.”

Taste of the Town started in 1997 as the major fundraiser for The AIDS Project. In 2011, that organization closed and gave the event to Centre County United Way. The original founder described this evident as an “experience which was born out of love for individuals in need.”
