Discovery Space is offering free admission to active-duty military personnel and their families this summer.

The nonprofit interactive science center at 1224 N. Atherton St. in State College has joined the Blue Star Museums initiative, a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense to provide free admission at museums around the country.

The 2023 Blue Star Museums program began on Armed Forces Day, May 20, and continues until Labor Day, Sept. 3.

Free admission is available for those currently serving in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy and Space Force, as well as members of the Reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps and NOAA Commissioned Corps. The offer is for eligible personnel and up to five family members.

Qualified members can show a Common Access Card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), DD Form 1173-1 ID card or the Next Generation Uniformed Services (Real) ID card for entrance to participating Blue Star Museums.

Discovery Space is one of more than 50 Blue Star Museums in Pennsylvania for 2023. For the full list of participating museums in each state, visit arts.gov/initiatives/blue-star-museums.
