In a year in which so many things are done differently, virtually, or not at all, Mary McMurtrie wanted to keep an Easter tradition alive.

Historic Bellefonte Inc. is sponsoring a drive-through Easter egg hunt for families with children 12 and under from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Governors Park. Although it will be a different location than the traditional egg hunt usually held in Talleyrand Park, it promises to be a good choice for the family activity.

“Families can load the kids in the car and drive through Governors Park and pick up bags of candy-filled eggs,” McMurtrie, the event’s coordinator, said. “The bags the kids receive will contain 12 to 15 eggs. Some of the eggs hold coupons for prizes and Easter baskets — more than 100 of each.

“So many service clubs and businesses have helped us with prizes, money and even bicycles. Coupons for Texas Roadhouse, Hoss’s and Burger King are included in some eggs. We are so grateful for all who helped make this year’s Easter egg hunt a reality.”

No registration or admission fee is required.

The event will be held rain or shine. CDC guidelines including mask-wearing will be in place.

The Bellefonte Moose, Bellefonte Elks, Bellefonte Women’s Club, the Knights of Columbus Catholic Daughters, Bellefonte businesses and many other have helped to make the event happen.

There will be plenty of prizes up for grabs at the Bellefonte Easter egg hunt, scheduled for April 3 at Governors Park. Submitted photo.
