Alpha Fire Company on Tuesday continued a decades-long tradition of serving as Santa’s sleigh through Centre Region neighborhoods.

The annual Santa Run took Santa Claus through the fire company’s service area in and around State College over the course of several hours on Christmas Eve, with a convoy of engines decked out in lights and decorations.

Dozens of volunteers help to decorate the trucks and carry out the run, and through some Christmas magic, the Santa Express runs east and west routes to cover as much of the region as possible. Amateur radio volunteers provided exact locations for real-time maps on the Alpha website so community members could see exactly when Santa would be in their neighborhoods.

Fire companies in other communities, including Boalsburg and Bellefonte, operated Santa Runs of their own in recent days.
