A 24-hour emergency veterinary care hospital is expanding its services with a new and larger location in the State College area.
Central Pennsylvania Veterinary Emergency Treatment Services held a ribbon-cutting event co-hosted by the Chamber of Business and Industry of Centre County on Wednesday for its new facility at 100 Oakwood Avenue in Patton Township.
“This new location represents a step forward in our staff’s capacity to provide lifesaving care to an increasing number of pets across Central Pennsylvania ,” Dr. Andrea Loar, medical director at CPVETS, said. “Expanded space to treat patients and upgraded technology at this new location will create a better experience for pet owners and continue our mission of offering the highest level of emergency veterinary care.”
CPVETS is currently seeing patients only at its 1522 Martin Street location and is expected to begin services at the new facility on April 10.
A public open house at the new location will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 5.

CPVETS has provided 24/7 emergency and critical care services since it was founded in 2008 by a group of local veterinarians. It began curbside treatment in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and maintained the service to accommodate an increasing caseload in the area.
The move to the new location will allow CPVETS to welcome pet owners back inside while continuing to provide efficient, quality emergency care.
The new facility includes five consultation rooms, two comfort rooms, a state-of-the-art triage suite and two surgical suites.
It also features separate ICU areas for outpatients, large dogs, small dogs and hospitalized cats, two specialized isolation suites to prevent cross-contamination and advanced, climate-controlled kennel equipment with DRC lighting – a system designed to meet different patient needs with daylight, recovery and cleaning modes.
Upgraded imaging technology, including a new digital X-ray system and handheld ultrasound unit.
Offering round-the-clock emergency and critical care to dogs, cats, and other small pets, CPVETS’ team includes experienced ER veterinarians, certified veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants and customer service representatives.
