A State College clothing shop is collecting donations to support people impacted by the wildfires that have devastated southern California over the last week.
By A Thread Boutique, 1341 S. Atherton St., Suite 8, will have a trailer to collect donated items from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15. Items being collected are listed below.
“While we may be thousands of miles away, our hearts are with everyone affected by the wildfires in California,” By A Thread owner Emily Boone wrote in an email. “Join us in supporting the ongoing disaster relief efforts by donating.”
By A Thread is partnering with Lytles Transfer and Storage of Tipton to transport items to the Los Angeles area.
“Our goal is to not only fill the trailer once, but several times over,” Boone wrote.
Wildfires exacerbated by dry conditions and severe winds have ravaged Greater Los Angeles and surrounding areas since Jan. 7, forcing the evacuation of more than 180,000 people and killing at least 11. The fires have destroyed or damaged more than 10,000 homes and businesses and burned more than 30,000 acres.
Anyone who makes a donation to By A Thread’s collection on Wednesday will receive 10% off their purchase at the store. Items being collected include:
