Centre County Adds 57 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 5,114

Centre County reported 57 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday to bring its total to 15,648, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 5,114 cases for a statewide total of 1,103,616.

The county also had 108 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 66,564. Across Pennsylvania, there were 9,881 new negatives for a total of 4,281,312.

The county’s positivity rate saw a decline for the second straight week. For the week of April 9-15, Centre County’s PCR testing positivity rate was 8.9%, down from 9.6% the previous seven days, according to the update DOH early warning monitoring dashboard. Pennsylvania’s statewide positivity rate was 9.6%, up from 9.5% the previous week.

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents on Saturday, keeping the total at 215.

With 39 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is 25,661.

According the the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, which includes Mount Nittany Medical Center and rehabilitation hospitals, 27 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, including four in intensive care and two on ventilators.

Statewide, 2,653 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized [a decrease of four since Friday], including 555 in intensive care and 275 on ventilators [+13].

An estimated 89% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

As of Saturday morning, 42,274 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 19,215 are partially covered. 

Among Pennsylvania’s cases, 932,554 are confirmed and 171,062 are probable. In Centre County, 14,281 are confirmed and 1,367 are probable.
