Centre County recorded seven new COVID-19 cases on Monday, its fewest in a week, according to Pennsylvania Department of Health data.
The new cases bring the county’s total to 35,503 (31,486 confirmed and 4,017 probable) since March 2020. Centre County’s rolling seven-day average for new cases is 20.4, up from 19.9 a week ago and 7.9 a month ago.
Pennsylvania reported more than 1,000 new cases for the seventh consecutive day. The 1,072 new positives bring the statewide total to 2,809,243.
The commonwealth’s seven-day average is 1,486 up from 1,268 a week ago and 602 a month ago.
Hospitalizations
Mount Nittany Medical Center has three COVID-19 inpatients for the fourth consecutive day, according to the hospital’s COVID inpatient dashboard. None are in intensive care or on ventilators.
Statewide, 501 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Pennsylvania, three fewer than on Sunday, with 69 in intensive care [+5] and 33 on ventilators [-3].
Deaths
DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents for the 15th consecutive day, keeping the total at 348.
With two new COVID-19 deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, the statewide total is 44,610.
Community Level
Centre County remains at the “low” community level for COVID-19 for the seventh consecutive week, according to the Centers for Disease Control’s latest update on Friday.
Community levels measure new cases, new hospitalizations and local hospital capacity to determine mitigation guidelines. At the low level, there is no recommendation for indoor masking.
Statewide, 63 of 67 counties are at the low level, with Tioga at medium and Bradford, Sullivan and Susquehanna at high. At the medium level, the CDC recommends masks indoors in public for those at risk of severe illness. At the high level, universal indoor public masking is recommended.
Prison cases
Centre County’s two state prisons — Benner and Rockview — have no COVID-19 cases among inmates or staff, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections.
At Benner, 1,421 inmates are fully vaccinated, 24 are partially vaccinated and 208 are not vaccinated. Among staff, 305 are fully vaccinated [-1] and 324 are not vaccinated [+1].
At Rockview, 1,699 inmates are fully vaccinated, two are partially vaccinated and 83 are not vaccinated. Among staff, 350 are fully vaccinated and 368 are not vaccinated.
Vaccinations
As of Monday morning, 95,341 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated, an increase of five since Sunday, and 14,222 are partially covered [+3]. Booster doses have been administered to 50,496 county residents [+8].
Among the county’s entire population, 70.3% have received at least one dose, 59.8% are fully vaccinated and 51.7% are fully vaccinated with a booster, according to the CDC. Among adult residents, 75.6% have received at least one dose, 63.9% are fully vaccinated and 54.4% have received a booster.
Statewide, 77.8% of adults and 68.3% of the total population are fully vaccinated.
Vaccination appointments are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
All individuals age 12 and older are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine booster shot. All individuals 50 and older and certain immunocompromised individuals are now eligible for a second booster shot.
