The 2024 General Election saw Centre County’s highest voter turnout rate in 20 years and its most ballots ever cast in a single election.

Centre County’s voter turnout rate for Tuesday’s election was 73.12%, with 80,324 of 109,856 registered voters casting ballots, according to the county’s unofficial election results as of Wednesday night. The last time the county had a voter turnout rate that high was in 2004, when it was 75.09% with 65,013 of 86,581 casting ballots.

Unofficial results for the 2024 election are not final. The Board of Elections still must complete canvassing of mail-in ballots that were set aside to review possible deficiencies, as well as provisional and military/overseas ballots.

Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris is the leading presidential vote-getter in the county with a margin of 50.6% to 48.4% over Republican former President Donald Trump, who has already been declared the winner of Pennsylvania and the presidency. If Centre County’s results hold in the final tally, it will be the fifth consecutive time the county has voted in favor of the Democratic presidential candidate.
