Bluegrass star Billy Strings will bring his summer tour to Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center for a two-night stand in August.
The guitarist and his band will stop in State College for 7:30 p.m. shows on Aug. 2 and Aug. 3, according to a tour announcement on Tuesday. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 15, through Ticketmaster.
The Jordan Center shows are part of a summer tour that includes festival dates and headlining two-night runs at five arenas.
Influenced as a teen prodigy by traditional bluegrass and rock, Strings broke onto the scene with his 2017 debut album “Turmoil and Tinfoil.” His star has risen significantly since then, winning the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album for 2019’s “Home” and being name Artist of the Year in 2022 and 2023 at the Americana Music Awards.
Drawing a fervent following to sold-out shows, he’s also played alongside country stars like Dierks Bentley and bluegrass titans like Del McCoury.
In addition to his Americana bona fides, Strings has become a favorite on the jam band scene as well and has performed former Grateful Dead members, Phish’s Trey Anastasio and Goose, among others.
