A free outdoor concert series is set to return to downtown State College this week.

“Live After 5,” presented by the Downtown State College Improvement District, kicks off Wednesday with Steve Treado, Joe Pillot and Jim Colbert performing from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza on the 100 block of South Fraser Street.

The series continues every Wednesday through Aug. 30, except for July 12 during the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts when a bevy of other live performances can be found throughout downtown.

This summer’s “Live After 5” lineup includes:

“This year’s diverse musical line-up is sure to please our summer music lovers,” Lee Anne Jeffries, DSCID executive director, said in a statement. “We invite you to join us as we celebrate our local talent, their artistry and the vibrancy their music brings to our town.”

Marking the third year for the “Live After 5” series, DSCID once again partnered with Luke Cimbala of local music promoter The Band Junkies for the lineup of acts.

The family-friendly event is open to all.

“It is the Downtown State College Improvement District’s hope that local community members will use this event as an opportunity to explore all that the downtown has to offer such as diverse shopping, scrumptious dining and a vibrant art scene,” according to a news release.
