One of America’s most acclaimed singer-songwriters will perform at the State Theatre in State College during this summer’s Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts.
Rosanne Cash, the genre-bending artist who has become the queen of Americana music, takes the stage at 8 p.m. on July 11 at the theater located at 130 W. College Ave. Cash will be joined by her husband, six-time Grammy-winning songwriter John Leventhal, for the show.
Tickets are $73 and go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. March 21 online and at the theater box office. A presale for State Theatre members will begin at 10 a.m. on March 19.
The daughter of Johnny Cash, Rosanne Cash was born to country music royalty, but has staked out her own illustrious path over a nearly 50-year career. Starting with her sophomore album, 1981’s “Seven Year Ache,” Cash has earned rave reviews and produced a string of No. 1 country hits over the ensuing years.
The winner of four Grammy Awards, Cash’s work has drawn on folk, rock and blues as she has continued to earn seldom-wavering critical praise for albums spanning the decades such as “Interiors,” “The Wheel,” “Black Cadillac” and “The River & The Thread.”
Cash and Leventhal, who is also her longtime creative partner, launched RumbleStrip Records in 2023 to reexamine and reissue her early work, as well as releasing Leventhal’s debut solo album.
This year’s “The Essential Collection,” a 40-song compilation highlighting Cash’s deep catalogue, coincides with the opening of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum exhibit, “Rosanne Cash: Time Is A Mirror.”
Cash joins an upcoming lineup of music acts at The State Theatre’s Friedman Auditorium that includes:
• The Wooten Brothers (April 9)
• Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives (April 24)
• The Machine Performs Pink Wall (April 25)
• Back to Back to Black: The Amy Winehouse Celebration (April 26)
• The Steel Wheels (April 30)
