Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) will host Give Kids a Smile Day on Sept. 20. The free event is designed to provide essential dental care to low-income, uninsured children in the community.

Services offered will include dental exams, cleanings, x-rays, sealants and a follow-up care plan, ensuring that every child receives comprehensive dental attention.

Appointments for Give Kids a Smile Day will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of completed registration forms. To secure an appointment, parents or guardians should contact Darion Shawley at 814-231-4043 or via email at [email protected] to obtain the necessary registration form.

“Oral health is a critical component of overall wellness,” Paula Williams, executive director of CVIM, said in a statement. “We are honored to offer these services to children who may otherwise go without, and we look forward to helping families in our community.”

CVIM is Centre County’s only permanent free clinic providing medical, dental and behavioral health care for low-income, uninsured and underinsured residents. Give Kids a Smile Day is part of CVIM’s ongoing efforts to improve the health and well-being of underserved families in Centre County.

“Unfortunately, too many children today still suffer needlessly from untreated dental disease,” Dr. Ronald Brungo, CVIM’s dental director, said. “CVIM is doing our best to help as many underserved children as possible achieve optimal oral health.”
