STATE COLLEGE — In 2001, the children at Our Lady of Victory School in State College wanted to honor their classmate, Jared, who was diagnosed with an incurable brainstem tumor. They decided to fill a plastic storage box filled with items to lift his spirits while in the hospital. These boxes contained small gifts, toys, games and other fun activities.
Jared Boxes provide a special diversion for young patients in emergency rooms, patient rooms, surgical centers, and clinics as they receive chemotherapy and other medical treatments.
