Jody Alessandrine, executive director of the Downtown State College Improvement District since September 2008, has tendered his resignation, the DID announced Friday evening.

Alessandrine is moving on to become executive director of Downtown Toms River, N.J., where he will be closer to his family, according to a news release.

‘My tenure at Downtown State College has been my greatest professional experience to date,’ Alessandrine said in the release. ‘It was indeed an honor and pleasure to work with such a wonderful, truly dedicated Board of Directors and staff, as well as so many involved and caring stakeholders.’

Dolores Taricani, who chairs the DID board, said Alessandrine has ‘had an incredibly positive impact on the downtown.’

‘We are grateful for his exemplary leadership over the past three years, and wish him and his family well,’ Taricani said in the news release. ‘We expect a seamless transition as we move past Jody’s tenure, in large part due to Jody and his organization and commitment to Downtown State College.’

The DID board plans to hire an interim director to replace Alessandrine and will make a formal announcement in the coming days, the news release says.
