The human remains discovered Wednesday by State College Police have been identified as missing 74-year-old Charles L. Hunt.
Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers said on Thursday that Hunt was positively identified through dental records. Hunt was found in a heavily overgrown area between Mount Nittany Middle School and Centre Hills golf course while police were searching the area for him.
Foul play is not suspected. Sayers said that his office is working to determine the cause of death.
Hunt was last seen by neighbors at his Boalsburg home on July 4. After he was reported missing, police said Hunt had Alzheimer’s disease and was likely disoriented.
Neighbors had told police that in the past Hunt had become disoriented and not returned home for a few days.
After discovering the remains on Wednesday, police said they suspected that it was Hunt. They are continuing to investigate.
