After two years of interviewing students, attending sporting events, and speaking with community leaders, the highly anticipated “Dear Old State” documentary is complete.
It will premiere on April 28 at 8:30 p.m. in the Freeman Auditorium at the HUB-Robeson Center.
Focusing on the values and traditions of Penn State and the surrounding community, “Dear Old State” addresses the university’s history from the student body’s perspective.
“Everything in the film, including the film itself, was made by students. We felt that the student perspective was the most genuine one,” director Griffin Boustany-Jost says. As a result, the documentary includes exclusively student and community leader interviews, and does not incorporate comments from the administration.
“Dear Old State” began as a project by The Porterfield Group, the company behind “The Joe We Know” and “365 Days.” Boustany purchased the rights earlier this year, and “Dear Old State” will be the first production released by Boustany’s film company.
Boustany vows to donate a portion of the proceeds from his works to charity. Fifteen percent of the money generated by both DVD and ticket sales to the premiere “Dear Old State” will be donated to THON 2016.
“Throughout the year, we hope to raise enough money to make a significant impact for THON 2016,” Boustany says.
You can buy tickets to the premiere here. For $10, you’ll receive a ticket and an invitation to an after party at Indigo Night Club.
