Pennsylvania dairy farmers and the YMCA of Centre County are teaming up to distribute more than 2,500 boxes of food and dairy products at local drive-through events this week.

The first will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology, 540 N. Harrison Rd. in Pleasant Gap. The second will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Church, 150 Harvest Fields Drive in Boalsburg.

Each event will have 1,296 food boxes, containing one gallon of milk, along with an assortment of dairy, produce, and meat. Each vehicle will receive one box, while supplies last.

All drivers and passengers must remain in their vehicles and will be prompted to open their trunk to receive food products. If cars do not have a trunk, they will be prompted to open their window. Walk-ups will not be permitted.

Through the American Dairy Association North East (ADANE), Pennsylvania dairy farmers are working with USDA-approved vendor Global Trading LLC and community organization recipient YMCA of Centre County to hold the distributions, which are made possible by the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program’s government-funded grants.

ADANE and farming partners have distributed more than 900,000 gallons of milk through more than 200 drive-thru and drop-off events throughout ADANE’s six-state region since April 2020.
