An Aaronsburg man died after a head-on crash Wednesday afternoon in Penns Valley, Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers said in a news release on Thursday.

Longtime Millheim Fire Company volunteer firefighter Kevin Lingle, 64, was traveling on Route 45 in Haines Township at about 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday when his Pontiac Montana was struck by a Mitsubishi Mirage driven by a 20-year-old woman, according to state police at Rockview.

Lingle was pronounced dead at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He died of chest and abdominal injuries, Sayers said.

A passenger in Lingle’s vehicle and the driver of the Mitsubishi were both taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries, according to police.

The crash remains under investigation.

Fire companies throughout Centre County posted condolences and tributes to Lingle on social media on Thursday.
