For many in Centre County, there were a lot of questions when Nature’s Medicines, the county’s first medical marijuana dispensary, opened its doors in June.
After all, marijuana was illegal in the state until a law allowing the use of medical marijuana went into effect earlier this year. Nature’s Medicines manager Angel Rodriguez said that he understands the questions and wants to answer as many of them as possible.
The facility, located at 2105 N. Atherton St., State College, is having a grand opening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, inviting the public to come and ask the questions they might have about medical marijuana and the facility.
The event will be held in the parking area outside, with vendors and informational booths set up. Rodriguez said the public can meet growers and processing representatives, receive promotional giveaways and speak with state representatives. He said patients will be able to come into the facility and speak with a pharmacist.
Rodriguez is new to State College and said having the event during a Penn State home game will be interesting, but he said that’s part of being a member of this community.
“It’s great. We love it here and we want to be a part of things and be open and transparent. We have nothing to hide here,” said Rodriguez. “We want to help people in the community who are suffering and dealing with medical issues. We have a medicine that can help, and that’s what we are here to offer.”
Rodriguez said that the reception from the community has been positive so far, but he wants to make sure everybody understands what Nature’s Medicine is about and to be able to ask questions of him, his wife and co-manager, Nia Rodriguez, and their staff.
