Penn State hockey’s single game ticket prices will see an increase during the Nittany Lions’ upcoming 2017-18 season.

According to Penn State athletics the price increase is the result of ‘limited ticket availability and an effort to maintain the value of season tickets’ prices will increase to $30 for non-premium seats (center ice, attack zone, and end zone) and $60 for premium seats (club, loge, and on-the-glass).

Tickets in those same areas were $10 and $25 respectively as recently as the 2014-15 season.

The change also ought to further establish the program’s standing as one of only three self-sufficient athletic programs at Penn State along with football and men’s basketball. During the 2016 fiscal year Penn State hockey brought in nearly $1.7 million from ticket sales alone with fairly modest single game prices. Overall revenues in FY 2016 were just over $4.3 million with total operating expenses of $3.5 million.

This of course was by design, in the early stages of planning Pegula Ice Arena the capacity was a frequently debated topic. Ultimately the design was set for a smaller arena to maintain demand.

For those fans still interested in picking up ticket, a limited number of single-game tickets will go on sale during the exclusive Nittany Lion Club and men’s hockey season ticket holder pre-sale on July 27 at 10:00 a.m. and conclude July 30. If tickets remain, they will go on sale to the public at 10:00 a.m. on August 1.

$18 tickets will be available in the student section for the Michigan State and Wisconsin series as students are on break. Standing Room Only tickets will remain at $15 and can be purchased by calling 1-800-NITTANY. A single game pricing chart can be found here.
