The line to get Penn State hockey season tickets was so long today that the university had to shut down the sale. Wrapping around much of the interior of the Penn State student center and out the door, officials decided to call off the in-person sale to prevent students from missing too much class.

As a result; it’s safe to say the Nittany Lions’ 1000-student “Roar Zone” will be full this season.

“We either sold or took information from people for every sellable seat in the student section,” A university official told StateCollege.com. “We had to close down the sale because of the long wait time. If a student was in line and filled out a note card, they’re guaranteed the chance to purchase a ticket. The ticket office will be reaching out to them in a couple of days to let them know how to purchase their tickets.”

In a new era of Penn State hockey, the student season tickets were sold for $96 each, and will include 12 of the season’s 18 home games. Six games not included fall over various Penn State breaks. Those games will be sold on an individual basis.

The puck will drop in Penn State’s $90 million hockey facility Friday, Oct. 11 when the Nittany Lions’ men’s hockey team opens the 2013-14 season against the Army Black Knights.
