To some he is known as Justin, but to those who know him around Penn State’s campus he is more commonly referred to as “JRoss.”
If Justin Ross hasn’t appeared in a Penn State promotional video, the folks at Old Main would be wise to get in touch. “JRoss” is the quintessential well-rounded student, found all around campus, including on the field of Beaver Stadium as a member of Penn State’s Blue Band. Can’t find him at Beaver Stadium or in the Blue Band building? Then he might be spotted at a campus meeting, whether it’s the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Engineering House or even the Penn State Theme Park Engineering Group.
Ross clearly wants to make his mark at Penn State, and has deep respect for those who have made his own experience possible. His choice for a dream date with a Penn State “celebrity” or alumnus: former university President George W. Atherton, because of his ability to impact and save the university throughout his presidency.
On this particular week, Ross is relishing the “infectious” spirit shared by students and residents, spreading from dorms to downtown houses and from the parade route all the way to Beaver Stadium.
It’s at the stadium where Ross always finds the biggest thrills. His favorite Nittany Lion memory: marching out into a complete whiteout just before 2007’s Penn State-Notre Dame game.
