State police at Rockview released details on a fatal crash involving two tractor-trailers last week on Interstate 80 westbound near Milesburg.

Ilkhom Khusainov, 31, of Philadelphia, died in the crash, which occurred at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday near mile marker 154 in Boggs Township.

Khusainov had pulled over to the right shoulder and was partially parked in the right lane when he got out to assess an issue with his truck, police wrote.

A 34-year-old Illinois man driving a tractor-trailer was traveling in the right lane, with another tractor-trailer in front of him that moved to the left lane to avoid striking Khusainov’s truck. The Illinois man failed to see Khusainov’s vehicle and struck it’ rear trailer area with the front passenger side of his vehicle, according to the crash report.

After the impact, he swerved left, then back to the right and struck the driver side of the trailer before hitting Khusainov, who was standing outside the vehicle, police wrote.

Khusainov died at the scene. An autopsy determined the cause of death as multiple blunt force trauma, according to the Centre County Coroner’s Office.

The Illinois man was not injured. Both trucks had disabling damage and were removed by Eagle Towing.

Bellefonte EMS, Bellefonte Fire Department and Citizens Hook and Ladder Company of Milesburg also responded to the scene.

I-80 westbound was closed in the area of the crash for several hours on Thursday night.

It was the second deadly crash in less than a month on the same area of I-80 westbound. Three members of an Indiana family — 48-year-old Thomas Feick, 49-year-old Catherine Feick and their 18-year-old son, Derek Feick — died after their car was struck twice by tractor-trailers in chain-reaction crashes just after midnight on June 20 near mile marker 156.
