A Penn State student reported being sexually assaulted early Sunday morning inside a University Park campus residence, according to the university.

Penn State issued a Timely Warning after the assault was reported to University Police early Monday morning. Colleges and universities are required to issue Timely Warnings by the Clery Act when certain crimes, including sex offenses, are reported on campus.

The student reported being assaulted by a known person “in a residence hall located in the southern portion of campus,” according to the notice. A police log entry lists the alleged offenses as rape, aggravated assault and forcible fondling.

A description of the suspect was not provided.

The Timely Warning is the first issued for a sexual assault at the University Park campus since Nov. 15.
