Three people accused of thefts from vehicles were arrested after they fled from police and crashed into another car on Wednesday evening in Ferguson Township, according to court documents.
Allegheny County residents Simone R. Caldwell, 48, Shaquan M. Moore, 31, and Trynae K. Moore, 27, are each facing multiple charges after the high-speed pursuit.
At about 6:40 p.m., Ferguson Township officers spotted at the Teener League Field on Airport Road a car that Patton Township police were seeking in connection with thefts from vehicles at Bernel Road Park. The trio fled in the white BMW X5 with Florida tags after an officer activated his emergency lights, police wrote in an affidavit of probable cause.
The chase involving multiple police departments continued onto West College Avenue, where Trynae Moore, who police said was driving the BMW and had a suspended license, crashed into another vehicle at the Blue Course Drive intersection, according to the affidavit. She then drove into a field on the 1500 block of West College Avenue, where police took the three suspects into custody.
Trynae Moore had “numerous credit cards,” a driver’s license and miscellaneous cards with other people’s names on them hidden under her clothes, police wrote. The owners of the cards told police they were stolen from their vehicles while they were at the Teener League Field.
Police also found a stolen Pennsylvania license plate on the back seat of the BMW, according to the complaint.
Trynae Moore is charged with misdemeanor counts of fleeing an officer, accidents involving personal injury, escape, theft from a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property, as well as a summary charge of driving while operating privileges are suspended.
Shaquan Moore is charged with one misdemeanor count of escape and two misdemeanor counts of receiving stolen property.
Caldwell is charged with misdemeanor counts of escape, theft from a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property.
All three were arraigned by District Judge Gregory Koehle, who denied bail, citing public safety and flight risks. Each is currently lodged at the Centre County Correctional Facility.
Preliminary hearings are scheduled for Aug. 16.
Officers from Ferguson Township, Patton Township, State College and Penn State police and state police at Rockview troopers responded to the incident. Alpha Fire Police provided traffic control following the crash.
