Two men are facing felony charges for their alleged involvement in the drug overdose deaths of two women in Spring Township earlier this year, according to township police.

Jonathan Baird and Timothy King were charged on Thursday with two counts each of drug delivery resulting in death. Baird is a 38-year-old State College resident, according to court records. King’s age and residency were not immediately available.

According to court documents and a post by Spring Township police on Facebook, officers were dispatched at about 5:10 p.m. on March 23 to a residence where they found two women, ages 33 and 59 in cardiac arrest. Officers administered CPR and multiple doses of Narcan to both women.

The women died after suffering “an overdose from the ingestion of a controlled substance,” police wrote on Thursday. A separate criminal complaint filed last week against Baird in connection with the same case indicated the women ingested heroin and cocaine.

An investigation found Baird and King “played a direct role in the deaths,” police wrote. According to the complaint filed against Baird, searches of his and one of the women’s phones revealed conversations from the previous day discussing the purchase of controlled substances. Baird allegedly admitted that he bought and supplied the drugs on which the women overdosed.

Baird has been detained at the Centre County Correctional Facility since Dec. 2, when he was initially arrested on possession charges and denied bail for public safety reasons.

On Thursday, Baird and King were charged with two first-degree felony counts of drug delivery resulting in death, one felony count each of criminal use of a communication facility and possession with intent to deliver and a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance.

King is awaiting extradition from Westmoreland County.
