Penn State’s receiving corps is amid a complete overhaul. Harrison Wallace III, who led all Nittany Lion wide receivers with 46 receptions and 720 receiving yards this past season, is expected to join second-leading wide receiver Omari Evans and enter the transfer portal, Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reported on Tuesday.

Wallace’s reported departure was announced just hours after the news surrounding Evans’ future. The pair had accounted for 1,135 of the 1,640 receiving yards by Penn State wide receivers in 2024. That’s 69%. Drew Allar, the team’s starting quarterback, did not complete a pass to a wide receiver in a 27-24 loss to Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl.

Julian Fleming is out of eligibility, making Liam Clifford the last remaining starter from last year’s group of wide receivers. Tyseer Denmark and Anthony Ivey, who combined for three catches, join Clifford as the final three wide receivers on roster who registered a catch this past season.

However, the Nittany Lions are set to open their doors to USC’s Kyron Hudson and Troy’s Devonte Ross, a pair of wide receivers now in the spotlight to lead a receiving corps that has significantly digressed over the past two seasons, since the arrival of position coach Marques Hagans.

Wallace had been an integral member of Penn State’s offense over each of the past three seasons. He was a regular contributor over his redshirt freshman year in 2022, when he caught 19 receptions for 273 yards. Wallace’s role was expected to expand as he entered the starting lineup in 2023, but injuries held him to 228 receiving yards in just eight game appearances.
