Schlow Centre Region Library’s Betsy Rodgers Allen Gallery is exhibiting Mixed Media Paintings by artist Ruth Talman-Kazez of State College. The exhibition is running through April 30.
Talman-Kazez, a long-time artist and athlete, works in multiple media, including acrylics, collage, and assemblage. Her work has been featured in numerous galleries across the country, as well as locally.
A former triathlon competitor, Talman-Kazez had done several Ironman competitions, and for her 70th birthday, she ran a half Ironman.
In her artist statement, she writes that her work “evokes a minimalist approach to landscapes, with a twist.” She captures the mystery of the ordinary and by placing her subjects on large canvases, she emphasizes the mystery that allows viewers to appreciate the intricacies of her compositions.
Schlow Library is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
