For the first time in 49 years, State College’s school board meetings will not be held downtown.

The State College Area School District Board of Directors will now be conducting its meetings in the suburbs of State College starting Monday, Nov. 5.

Continuing its start time of 7 p.m., the meetings will be held in Meeting Room A in the renovated Panorama Village administrative building next to Mount Nittany Elementary School.

Since 1966, the meetings have been held at 131 W. Nittany Ave. in the Central Office Building, the previous home of the Nittany Avenue School, which opened in 1925.

The historic change is part of the district administration’s shift from the Central Office Building to the Panorama Village facility.

Those planning to attend the meetings can take either Villa Crest Drive off of Atherton Street or Brandywine Drive off of Warner Boulevard, and then Villa Crest, to get to Panorama Village.
