A skateboarder was flown to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash with a driver early Wednesday morning in Ferguson Township.

The 41-year-old State College man was riding a skateboard at about 6:15 a.m. when he collided with a 2015 Subaru Outback that was traveling eastbound on South Foxpointe Drive approaching Autumnwood Drive, according to township police.

The skateboarder was flown by Life Flight helicopter to UPMC Altoona. The driver of the Subaru was uninjured.

A preliminary investigation indicates the skateboarder did not stop for the posted stop sign before entering the intersection and crossed in front of the driver, police said.

The crash is being investigated by the regional crash response team, with officers from Patton Township and State College assisting with the investigation. Alpha Fire Police and Centre Lifelink EMS assisted at the scene.
