It’s a sad day for fans of crispy cheddar bites and American style southwestern cuisine. Chili’s is reportedly closing it’s doors on May 16.

Multiple restaurant employees confirmed the restaurant is closing. The manager and owner have declined to comment on the closing.

The restaurant chain’s corporate office was also unable to comment, as the location is an individually-owned franchise. The Chili’s location was opened in 1994 by Stephen Morris.

The storefront at 139 S. Allen St. is up for grabs. We can’t confirm what’s moving in to the prime location, but some rumblings of a Champs Sports Grill have made the rounds on Twitter and Facebook.

There doesn’t appear to be a pending transfer on the location’s liquor license, according to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board’s website.

Champs owner Scott Lucchesi has declined comment on the possibility of a Champs location moving in. The popular sports bar is located at 1611 N. Atherton St.
