State College police are asking for the public’s help contacting the owner of a dog that bit a child at the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts.

An 11-year-old girl was “accidentally bitten” by the dog sometime between 3 and 4 p.m. on Thursday while playing under the water buckets on the 100 block of South Allen Street in State College, police wrote in a new release. The dog’s rabies vaccination status is unknown, and the child is undergoing a precautionary rabies shot protocol until it can be determined if the dog was vaccinated.

The dog was described as a Rottweiler under the supervision of a woman who was wearing a purple dress and had another dog with her at the time.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the State College Police Department at (814) 234-7150, by email or by submitting an anonymous
tip online.
