Fans traveling to State College for Penn State’s College Football Playoff game against SMU next weekend have a few more options.
United has added flights to and from airports at each of the playoff host sites, including State College Regional Airport, for the weekend of Dec. 20-22, the airline announced this week.
For SMU fans (or Penn State fans in Texas) the airline will offer a nonstop flight from Dallas Fort Worth International on Friday, Dec. 20 and a return flight on Sunday Dec. 22. A roundtrip economy ticket through United’s website is $1,154.
United will also have additional flights to the normal hubs serviced from State College. Two additional flights from Chicago on Friday and two more back on Sunday are offered in addition to the three regular daily arrivals and departures. And one additional flight from Washington Dulles on Friday and back on Sunday ups the daily trips from three to four.
Roundtrip tickets from and to Chicago start at $609, compared to $322 the following weekend. For Dulles, the lowest available roundtrip ticket is $478, compared to $279 the next weekend.
In addition to State College, United has added flights to and from South Bend, Indiana; Columbus, Ohio; and Austin, Texas for the College Football Playoff first round.
