The Big Ten Conference announced single-play and double-play opponents Tuesday morning for the 2023-24 Penn State men’s basketball season. The Nittany Lions will face seven double-play opponents and six single-play opponents in the 20-game Big Ten men’s basketball slate.
Penn State will play both home and away games against Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Maryland, Minnesota, Northwestern and Ohio State. While boasting a significantly different team this year, the Nittany Lions went 7-2 last year against this rotation of teams, losing to Maryland on the road and Michigan State at the Bryce Jordan Center. Penn State would go on to win five of its next six games, including a win over Maryland following the loss in College Park.
As for home-only opponents Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin will each visit Happy Valley with no return trips scheduled. Away games for single-play opponents send Penn State to Nebraska, Rutgers and Purdue. Dates, television network assignments and tipoff times for the Big Ten contests will be announced later this year.
Penn State enters its first season under new head coach Mike Rhoades who is in the midst of rebuilding a Nittany Lion roster not short on turnover between the transfer portal, graduation and the NBA Draft.
