Penn State men’s basketball is set to return to one of the nation’s most historic venues this upcoming season. The Nittany Lions will face Indiana at The Palestra in Philadelphia on Jan. 5, 2025, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported Thursday.

This will mark the third consecutive year Penn State will play at the venue, which is the home of Penn basketball. Last season, the Nittany Lions defeated Michigan, 79-73, there as part of the first season under head coach Mike Rhoades.

The program has a 25-37 record at The Palestra, dubbed the “Cathedral of College Basketball, and played its first game there in 1927.

Rhoades returns a handful of players from last year’s squad, including Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Ace Baldwin Jr. and key contributors Nick Kern Jr., Zach Hicks, Puff Johnson and D’Marco Dunn.

This offseason, Penn State earned a top-30 recruiting class, per 247Sports, headlined by four-stars Miles Goodman, a center, and small forward Hudson Ward. The team also brought in four transfers: former Tennessee guard Freddie Dillione V, former Xavier center Kachi Nzeh, former Nebraska forward Eli Rice and former Northern Illinois center Yanic Niederhauser.

The Nittany Lions will also travel to Philadelphia on Dec. 21 for a meeting with Drexel at the Wells Fargo Center, home of the 76ers.
