A former Penn State cornerback has found his new home. Cam Miller, who started four games for the Nittany Lions this past season, has officially signed with Rutgers, the school announced on Thursday.
Miller set career highs with 27 tackles and five pass deflections in 2024. He was in coverage for Notre Dame’s game-tying, fourth-quarter touchdown that led to Penn State’s 27-24 loss in the Orange Bowl last Thursday.
Miller was featured in a number of ways this past season, particularly after safety Kevin Winston Jr.’s season-ending injury moved Jaylen Reed from nickel to safety. Miller, at times, filled the void left by Reed at nickel before Zion Tracy took his spot as the primary option at the position.
A two-time member of the Nittany Lions’ leadership council, Miller is one of 10 players from last season’s Penn State team to enter the transfer portal this cycle. He joins quarterback Beau Pribula, now at Missouri, and tight end Jerry Cross, now at Memphis, as the team’s third departed transfer to find a school.
With Miller gone, as well as starter Jalen Kimber, the Nittany Lions will have a decision to make regarding who will start at cornerback beside returnee A.J. Harris. Elliot Washington II and Audavion Collins project as the top options to earn the promotion.
