Penn State has made a significant move on the recruiting trail. Kayden Mingo, a four-star guard from Glen Head, New York, announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions over Wake Forest and others on Friday.
The 6-foot-2, 178-pound Mingo is listed as the No. 42-ranked high school player in the country by 247Sports, making him Penn State’s highest-rated prospect of the recruiting-ranking era.
Needless to say, this is a massive get for head coach Mike Rhoades as he continues to piece together his program’s 2025 recruiting class.
Mingo joins small forward Mason Blackwood and center Justin Houser, two three-star prospects, as the third member of a class that now ranks No. 12 nationally by 247Sports.
Rhoades is already off to a hot start in this year’s recruiting cycle, following up on a signing class that featured five prospects total and two four-stars, center Miles Goodman and small forward Hudson Ward.
The Nittany Lions will open their season against Binghamton at 7:30 p.m. ET on Monday.
