A pair of Penn State players have been selected within a high-profile group of the nation’s top talent. Defensive end Abdul Carter and tight end Tyler Warren were named Associated Press All-Americans on Monday.
Carter was a first-team selection while Warren made the second team, finishing behind Bowling Green’s Harold Fannin Jr., who earned first-team honors.
Carter, who has also been named the Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Year, currently leads the Power Four with 19.5 tackles for loss and ranks No. 2 in the Big Ten with 10 sacks. He is a projected first-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, which he is likely to declare for after the Nittany Lions’ College Football Playoff run.
Despite winning the Mackey Award for the nation’s best tight end, Warren finished as a second-team selection. He currently ranks tied for first among tight ends nationally with 10 total touchdowns and is second with 1,062 receiving yards. He came in at No. 7 in voting for the Heisman Trophy.
Warren’s contributions in the pass game have been significant. But it’s been his impact across the line of scrimmage that has set him apart from other tight ends nationally and made him so difficult for opponents to gameplan. In 2024, Warren has caught, thrown, run and snapped the football, defining himself as one of the country’s most versatile players.
Warren, like Carter, has been projected by many analysts as a first-round NFL Draft selection.
