Amid a rumored interest in the open head coaching job at West Virginia, Penn State offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki does not appear to be going anywhere, at least according to a message he posted on X Monday night.

“Beyond lucky to be a part of the Penn State Football Family,” Kotelnicki posted. “Still a lot to accomplish this season and I am looking forward to what 2025 has in store for our program!”

Kotelnicki’s return would be a major sigh of relief for a Nittany Lion team set to host SMU in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Dec. 21. His presence should also help in the transfer portal, which opened on Monday.

Penn State is coming off one of its best offensive performances of the year, a 45-37 loss to No. 1 Oregon in the Big Ten Championship. It was a game that saw the Nittany Lions accumulate 518 total yards, pick up 28 first downs and convert on all four of their red-zone trips.

Under Kotelnicki, Penn State ranks tied for No. 4 nationally with 6.7 yards per play, defining itself as one of the nation’s most explosive teams. It ranked No. 64 in the same statistical category last season, prior to Kotelnicki’s arrival.

His return could add a compelling element to starting quarterback Drew Allar’s impending decision to either enter the NFL Draft or return to the Nittany Lions for a senior season.
