A trio of Penn State players have made the cut for a handful of national honors. Tight end Tyler Warren, defensive end Abdul Carter and offensive tackle Anthony Donkoh have all been named to the trimmed lists for awards, all of which will be announced postseason.
Warren was on Thursday named one of three finalists for the Paul Hornung Award, given annually to the nation’s most versatile player. Colorado’s Travis Hunter and Louisville’s Isaac Brown were the other two finalists.
Warren was also listed on Wednesday as one of eight semifinalists for the Mackey Award, given to the top tight end in college football. He has tallied a team-high 606 receiving yards for four touchdowns, rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown and thrown for 26 yards and a score.
Carter was named one of 12 semifinalists for the Lombardi Award, an honor which recognizes the nation’s top lineman on either side of the ball. He currently leads the Nittany Lions with six sacks and 11 tackles for loss, and projects as a top-10 NFL Draft prospect.
Donkoh, meanwhile, was named one of 14 semifinalists for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award. Donkoh has started in seven games this season, not allowing a sack, per Pro Football Focus. He is one of two offensive linemen, along with Colorado’s Jordan Seaton, included on the list.
