Cam Miller sat in the locker room with a towel above his head after Penn State’s 27-24 loss to Notre Dame in Thursday’s Orange Bowl. That defeat will likely serve as Miller’s final game with the Nittany Lions. Miller, a regular contributor at cornerback over each of the past two years, is set to enter the transfer portal, On3’s Ryan Snyder reported on Sunday.
Miller has yet to make an official announcement regarding his future, but he is no longer listed on the program’s online roster.
With A.J. Harris’ emergence as a returning starter and Elliot Washington II’s likely entrance into the starting lineup next season, Miller’s departure would make sense for both parties.
Miller tallied career highs with 27 tackles and five pass deflections across four starts and 16 total game appearances this season. Miller was featured at both traditional cornerback and, at times, nickel this year after a season-ending injury to Kevin Winston Jr. moved Jaylen Reed from nickel to safety.
Zion Tracy later took over as Penn State’s primary nickel, earning four starts, in place of Miller.
Miller, when made official, will join quarterback Beau Pribula, tight end Jerry Cross and defensive tackle T.A. Cunningham as the team’s fourth player to transfer this cycle.
