A pair of Penn State defensive players — defensive end Jameial Lyons and linebacker Kaveion Keys — were removed from the team’s online roster Saturday morning. Neither player is still enrolled at the school or with the program, a team spokesperson confirmed to StateCollege.com. Greg Pickel of On3 was first to report the news.

Lyons and Keys were previously placed on interim suspension prior to the start of preseason camp on Wednesday.

James Franklin will address the media at 12:15 p.m. ET, and will likely be asked about the situation early into his press conference.

Lyons was one of five true freshmen who burned their redshirts last season. The Philadelphia native was expected to play a significant role in 2024. Keys played in only two games last fall, but was also poised for an increase in playing time.
