The pre-draft process is officially underway, and five Penn State players have been invited to the NFL Scouting Combine.
Defensive end Abdul Carter, tight end Tyler Warren, linebacker Kobe King and defensive backs Kevin Winston Jr. and Jaylen Reed are set to showcase their skills at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis later this month.
Carter and King will hit the turf alongside other defensive linemen and linebackers at 3 p.m. ET on Thursday, Feb. 27. Warren, Winston and Reed will take their turns at the same time on Friday, Feb. 28.
Notably left off the list of invitees was offensive lineman Sal Wormley, who started at right guard for the Nittany Lions over each of the past three seasons. Also missing was defensive end Amin Vanover, who was recently denied a waiver by the NCAA to return for a fifth season of eligibility, and defensive tackle Coziah Izzard.
Carter is expected to garner the most buzz of any Penn State prospect in attendance because of his potential to become the No. 1 selection. That spot is currently held by the Tennessee Titans. The Nittany Lions have not produced a top-ranked pick since Courtney Brown in 2000.
Warren is another intriguing prospect, and could very well join Carter in the first round and become the first tight end selected in this year’s draft, which is set to be held from April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
